Ensure the delivery of competent and accurate full-service dental care to all ages. Provides assistance to staff, clients and other visitors as necessary.
Work involves responsibility for the clinical aspects of a public health dental program including corrective services, and the stimulation and maintenance of cooperative relations with dentists, physicians, public and school officials and lay groups in the development of the program in Jefferson County.
Provide routine and emergency dental services, including diagnosis, treatment plans, general restorative procedures, crown, bridge and removable prosthetics preparation/construction, uncomplicated endodontic procedures and minor oral surgery
Administer and prescribe anesthetics and medications
Provide oral health education to clients
Demonstrate high degree of knowledge and competency in the practice of dentistry
Perform dental tasks using a high level of skills and abilities
Perform accurate dental charting
Follow OSHA guidelines for infection control
Ensure all services are provided in a professional and caring manner
Provide supervision to Dental Assistants and Hygienists as assigned
Follows all applicable safety rules and procedures.
Conducts dental education and screening programs in the schools, meets with local dental and medical groups, public and school officials and community groups and individuals in the promotion and implementation of public health dental services.
Work is subject to administrative review; however, the employee is expected to exercise considerable independent judgment and initiative in the implementation of duties.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
D.D.S. or D.M.D.
Valid license to practice dentistry in Missouri
Ability to work well with all age groups of clients
Passionate, friendly and caring professional
Very good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to establish and maintain an effective relationship with patients, coworkers and professional staff
Physical stamina and dexterity
Public health experience a plus
CONTINUING EDUCATION EXPECTATIONS:
As a condition of employment by Jefferson County Health Department the employee must maintain all applicable
licenses and certifications appropriate to this position in current status. This requirement contemplates
satisfactory completion of required re-certification course work. Completion of continuing education course work
that may not be mandatory for re-certification qualification; but which is designed to ensure currency in the
discipline, is encouraged. Additionally, emergency response training courses, identified as appropriate by
ordinance, statute, or administration must be completed within established time frames. Annually, JCHD
administration will require various course work completion which is not discipline specific and is determined to be of benefit to the organization as a whole.
This position includes work at multiple locations, minimal lifting/carrying, and some evening and/or weekend
hours may be required (very limited and only with advanced notice).
All employees of JCHD are considered First Responders in the Event of a Disaster Response Situation. All
