The General Dentist that demonstrates the ability in the field of general dentistry or a dental specialty who is employed to perform the duties related to various professional activities of patient care and treatment without supervision. The duties consist of but are not limited to the following: General Dentistry is the practice of prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases, injuries and malformation of the teeth, jaws and the oral cavity and its adjacent tissues and structures. The general dentist will be privileged to provide diagnosis and treatment in the dental clinic in the following dental disciplines: restorative dentistry (the restoring of teeth back to function by utilizing various restorative materials). Dentists is capable of assisting in maintaining accepted standards of professional care in VA facilities; and be capable of accepting full responsibility for the proper care and treatment of assigned patients.
