OMNI is honored to be retained by Kansas City University College of Dental Medicine in their search for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Pediatric Dentistry - College of Dental Medicine. This Pediatric Dentist will serve as full-time, clinical faculty for their new dental school in Joplin, Missouri.
Kansas City University (KCU), founded in 1916, is a fully accredited, private not-for-profit health sciences university with Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine, Biosciences, and a developing College of Dental Medicine. The University offers multiple graduate degrees: a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine; a Doctor of Psychology in clinical psychology; a Master of Arts in bioethics; a Master of Science in the biomedical sciences; a Master of Business Administration in partnership with Rockhurst University; a new Master of Public Health in partnership with the University of Nebraska Medical Center; and will seat the first doctor of dental medicine students in July 2023.
The faculty member will be responsible for the development of the didactic, pre-clinical and clinical pediatric dentistry curriculum, integrating evidence-based best practices with clinical patient care as well as guiding current research and scholarly activity in pediatric dentistry. The Pediatric Dentistry faculty member will collaborate with, and educate the dental Group Practice Leaders, Assistant Group Practice Leaders, simulation faculty, and clinical faculty in the current science of pediatric dentistry for patient care.
Responsibilities Candidates must demonstrate a passion for pediatric dentistry and the application of pediatric didactic principles to pre-clinical and clinical patient care. a strong desire to teach students in a demanding, fast-paced, academic environment
Develop goals, objectives, and policies for the pediatric dental education program within the KCU College of Dental Medicine
Implement and deliver the pediatric didactic curriculum including pre-clinical materials, simulation, and laboratory exercises
Integrate evidence-based best practices with clinical patient care and guide current research and scholarly activity in pediatric dentistry
Assure the safe and effective delivery of pediatric dental care by the dental students
Demonstrate and guide appropriate behavioral management techniques when indicated
Deliver clinical pediatric patient care as needed
Serve as an advisor, coach and/or mentor to dental students expressing a desire for advanced education in pediatric dentistry
Mentor dental student research in the area of pediatric dentistry when applicable
Serve as faculty advisor for community-based activities in the realm of pediatric dentistry
Conduct summative and formative pre-clinical and clinical student assessment in pediatric dentistry
Perform other duties as assigned by supervising faculty or Dean
Qualifications D.D.S./D.M.D. degree
Certificate of completion of a CODA accredited Advanced Education Program in pediatric dentistry
Current Missouri dental license or have an active dental license in a US state or Canada and be eligible for licensure in Missouri
Must be board-certified or board-eligible in pediatric dentistry
