Responsible for delivering general adult and/or pediatric dental care to patients of our Health Center in accordance with Florida Statute 466 and Administrative Rule 64B5 and providing team leadership in the course of clinical and administrative aspects of the dental practice.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties:
Diagnose, plan, and deliver all phases of adult and pediatric general dental care in accord with Florida Statutes 466 and Administrative Rules 64B-5. (Scope/Privileging may be provided to specify procedures dentist can perform.)
Administer Nitrous Oxide Analgesia (obtains certification and participates in CME training).
Deliver care at primary assigned site and fill in, as needed, at our other Health Center dental locations, including school-based programs.
Skillfully utilizes various types of dental equipment with reasonable accommodations.
Adhere to current, applicable evidence-based clinical guidelines, standards of care, and standards of practice.
Ensure adherence to HIPAA, OSHA, CDC standards of care and guidelines.
Assist in development, follows, and enforces all our Health Centers policies, procedures, and clinical protocol specific to dental services.
Must work 80 hours every two weeks, except when pre-approved for leave by the Chief Dental Officer (CDO).
Provide direct and indirect supervision to Dental Assistants and Dental Hygienist in accordance with Florida Statutes 466 and Administrative Rule 64B-5. And manage other support staff for dental services, as needed.
Supervise, coach, counsel, and complete performance appraisals of team members in collaboration with Dental Office Manager.
Provide recommendations for hiring, counseling, and termination issues in conjunction with HR department.
Provide Dental Education to the community and our Health Center patients.
Properly represents our Health Centers Mission and Values, and support organization goals through providing quality patient care.
Exhibit professional behavior at all times showing decisiveness and accountability.
Document thoroughly and accurately in dental records including dental charting, procedure documentation, signature, and bill using valid codes as part of participation in reimbursement process associated with Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, and self-pay.
Participate in the Peer Review and Quality Assurance activities as requested.
Provide supportive leadership to other members of the team and coordinates patient care.
Maintain proper and professional appearance at all times.
Attend and participate in all mandatory Health Center meetings as directed by the CDO.
Supervise health promotion and school-based programs as requested by the CDO.
Approve orders of necessary supplies and requests for needed equipment purchase and repairs.
Work collaboratively with the Chief Dental Director, CEO and other management and clinical staff to ensure access to health care for all patients while maintaining a quality and cost-effective operation.
Review any patient complaints and attempt to de-escalate within the clinic setting.
Qualifications
Education:
Graduate of an American Dental Association Accredited Dental School or Program.
Board Certified or Board Eligible Pediatric Dentist a plus.
Experience:
Experience and/or interest in community/migrant health preferred.
Certification/Licensure:
Current, active license from State of Florida Board of Dentistry; no license revocation or suspension in any state.
Must have passed National Dental Boards part I and II.
Must have and maintain current Basic Life Support Certification.
DEA license required.
