The Austin Institute of Dental Medicine (AIDM) is seeking a Clinic Director for Pediatric Dentistry to lead and operate its pediatric dental service line within a comprehensive academic clinical enterprise.
This position is designed for a pediatric dentist who wishes to function as the primary clinical leader and provider for pediatric dentistry in a setting that mirrors the scope, pace, and autonomy of a modern private practice—while benefiting from the stability, infrastructure, and interdisciplinary collaboration of an academic institution.
The Clinic Director will oversee all pediatric patient care at AIDM, serve as the primary pediatric provider, and support resident education through clinical supervision and interdisciplinary collaboration. This is a clinically focused leadership role, not a traditional academic administrative appointment.
Clinical Practice Environment
AIDM operates within one of the largest dental clinical environments in T exas and is intentionally structured to support efficient, high-quality clinical practice.
The Pediatric Dentistry Clinic Director will work within an environment that includes:
Ownership of the Pediatric Patient Base: The Clinic Director will see the full scope of AIDM’s pediatric patients and lead pediatric clinical services across the institute
Private-Practice–Like Workflow: Efficient scheduling, dedicated pediatric operatories, and robust administrative support to allow sustained clinical productivity
Integrated Specialty Support: Close collaboration with Orthodontics, AEGD, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dental Anesthesiology, and Dental Radiology
Leadership & Educational Role
In addition to clinical care, the Clinic Director will:
Provide chairside supervision and clinical guidance to residents from AEGD and specialty programs involved in pediatric care
Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning, particularly for complex pediatric and medically involved patients
Help establish and maintain clinical protocols, quality standards, and patient experience benchmarks within the pediatric service line
Serve as a clinical mentor while maintaining a primary focus on patient care and clinic operations
The educational component is designed to support the clinical mission, not detract from productivity or autonomy.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and deliver comprehensive pediatric dental care, including behavior management, preventive care, restorative dentistry, and interceptive treatment
Serve as the clinical leader for pediatric dentistry within AIDM
Support resident education through supervision, consultation, and interdisciplinary case collaboration
Maintain high standards of clinical quality, safety, and patient-centered care
Collaborate with institutional leadership on growth and integration of pediatric services
Compensation & Appointment Structure
This role offers competitive, productivity-aligned compensation comparable to a high-performing pediatric group practice, combined with the benefits and stability of
an academic institution.
Compensation reflects clinical volume, scope, and leadership responsibility
Structured within an academic institution while maintaining a private-practice–like earnings model
Comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement contributions, and institutional support
Application Process
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
Interested candidates should submit:
1) Curriculum Vitae
2) A brief letter of interest describing clinical background and interest in a leadership role within an academic clinical environment
