This position is located within the Clinical and Diagnostics Department, Dental Services, at the Hudson Valley, VA Medical Center in Montrose, NY. The Dental Hygienist provides direct patient care under the supervision of the dentist or periodontist and performs clinical and clerical functions independently of direct supervision. The Dental Hygienist applies knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics associated with current professional dental hygiene practice. The Dental Hygienist: Sets up operatory for planned dental procedure and cleans dental unit for timely turnover Handles instruments safely, accurately, and efficiently Manages dental recall system, referring patients to the doctor for additional care when needed Administers local anesthetic (per State license) and topi
